Based on Isaiah 9

Leader: The people walking in darkness have seen a great light.

Jésus tu es la lumière du monde! (French)

ALL: Jesus you are the light of the world!

Leader: He judges the people with righteousness and defends the cause of the poor.

Yesu wewe ni nuru ya ulimwengu! (Swahili)

ALL: Jesus you are the light of the world!

Leader: He breaks the chains of slavery and removes all our burdens.

Jésus tu es la lumière du monde! (French)

ALL: Jesus you are the light of the world!

Leader: His government and its peace will never end.

Yesu woe nye xexeame pe kekeli! (Ewe)

ALL: Jesus you are the light of the world!

Leader: We are here to give Him all honor, glory, and praise.

Jésus tu es la lumière du monde! Nous vous adorons aujourd’hui! (French)

ALL: Jesus you are the light of the world! We worship you today!

Psalm 1:1-6

Leader: 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked,

or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

ALL: 2 But they delight in the law of the Lord,

meditating on it day and night.

Leader: 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,

bearing fruit each season.

ALL: Their leaves never wither,

and they prosper in all they do.

Leader: 4 But not the wicked!

They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.

5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment.

Sinners will have no place among the godly.

ALL: 6 For the Lord watches over the path of the godly,

but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

Benediction from Psalm 20

1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress;

may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.

2 May he send you help from the sanctuary

4 May he give you the desire of your heart

and make all your plans succeed,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon from Psalm 51:9-12

The Lord has hidden his face from our sin. He has blotted out all of our iniquity. For Christ Jesus, the Perfect suffered for the imperfect, the sinless became sin for the sinner. We are forgiven and freed to live in a right relationship with God. He has created within us a clean heart and renewed a right spirit within us. God has restored our joy and given us a willing spirit to do all that he asks. Brothers and sisters, you are forgiven, indeed! Amen.

Psalm 95:1, 6, 7, 8, 10

Leader: 6 Come, let us bow down in worship,

let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

ALL: 7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,

the flock under his care.

Leader: Today, if only you would hear his voice,

8 “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,

as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,

10 For forty years I was angry with that generation;

I said, ‘They are a people whose hearts go astray,

and they have not known my ways.’

ALL: 6 Come, let us bow down in worship,

let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;

Leader: 7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture,

the flock under his care.

ALL:    1 Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD!

         let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation!
